Pete Barlow
I am an illustrator and sculptor based in Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. I started drawing at the age of 3 and have continued ever since. After a few years of working in retail I decided to pursue art as a full time career.
Nature is my main influence, the North East of England is awash with mountains, forests, rivers, and beautiful coastlines. I like to reinterpret these environments into linear drawings and geometric landscapes. Another major influence is cinema, and I think of my work as single frames of an epic film, inviting the viewer to create their own narrative alongside the images.
I aim to convey a strong message of environmental conservation. I only use reclaimed and recycled materials for my sculptural work.
I have exhibited at Praxis Gallery, Lost Arch, Bamburgh House, and currently study Foundation Art and Design at Northumberland College.
