BULL continue to go from strength to strength

Picture
Since signing to EMI records in conjunction with, York based label, Young Thugs the band have been growing apace. At radio the band are already being championed by the likes of  Chris Hawkins  and  Steve Lamacq  at 6Music,  Huw Stephens  at BBC Introducing  Clara Amfo, as well as being acclaimed by fellow musicians like  Elton John on his Beats 1 show and Declan McKenna during his recent appearance on the Radio 1 Future Artists mix tape.

New track 'Bonzo Please' finds the band channelling discordant noise-pop vibes similar to the likes of  Dinosaur Jr, No Age and Surfer Blood. Featuring fuzzed out guitars, ramshackle drums and a piano that sounds like it's falling down a flight of stairs (in a good way), the band are venting a spot of songwriter angst, both musically and lyrically.

J-Pop artist Emiko set to release her debut UK E.P.

Picture
Only 21, Emiko has been snapped up by one of Japans biggest music, animation and digital corporations, Avex Entertainment for her debut EP, becoming label mates with artists including BLACKPINK, EXO and Big Bang.   After All   is the start of Emiko stretching her musical wings to release music in her own unique style.Growing up in a musical family, Emiko's talent was discovered early; naturally composing and writing her own songs by the age of 7. Whilst still in high school, she won a Japanese gospel contest that propelled her to stardom. She subsequently recorded the theme song for FINAL FANTASY XV: COMRADES plus the lead track for After The Rain, for a blockbuster Japanese film.
Musical theatre was the natural next step for the multi-talented Emiko to conquer, and at the start of 2020 saw her debut in Japan's first production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Whistle Down the Wind' at the iconic Nissay Theatre in Tokyo. After the show was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Emiko turned her creative outlet to online and launched her YouTube channel, which has amassed over 50,000 subscribers in a few short weeks.

Flawes    are back with new music from a forthcoming EP due in early 2021.

Picture
For a band whose music so often celebrates the beauty in life's most challenging moments, even Flawes have had their patience tested in 2020. The dynamic electronic pop trio started the year on a high by fulfilling a life-long ambition with the release of their debut album 'Highlights'. But events would mean that their big plans for the rest of the year were dashed. Instead they threw themselves into a flurry of activity. Writing and recording individually yet still collaboratively gave them a refreshed sonic identity, which they today reveal as they share their new single 'Holding Out For The Win'. It's the first track to preview their upcoming EP 'Reverie', which is set to follow on February 26th via Red Bull Records.
While 'Holding Out For The Win' emerged in testing circumstances, you wouldn't guess it. Flawes instead sound emboldened, their irrepressible live energy feeding into exhilarating alt-pop invigorated by retro synths. It's a track resolutely in tune with 2020, but with an '80s undercurrent.

KAWALA return with their first 7" single 'Pure Desire' / 'Loosen Up' out now via EMI Records.

Picture
'Pure Desire'/'Loosen Up' is a beautiful distillation of the two sides of KAWALA's song writing. 'Pure Desire' is a driving, upbeat piece of soulful pop, showcasing the band's intricate guitar lines and trademark harmonies. 'Loosen Up' on the other hand finds the band slowing things down to create a languid mix of acoustic guitars and delicate percussion, before building to a euphoric crescendo.

Palace   recently released the 'Someday, Somewhere' EP,   via Fiction

Picture
After the release of their sublime sophomore album 'Life After' last summer followed by sold-out UK, European and debut North American tours, London band Palace have recently released the 'Someday, Somewhere' EP,   via Fiction.
The 'Someday, Somewhere' EP is made up of unreleased tracks recorded during the 'Life After' album sessions including its much-loved title track, which was previously a live set exclusive. 2019's sophomore album 'Life After' is a stunning record with a clear message; hope. Its eleven tracks are full of the melodic warmth and rich textures that have come to define Palace's sound. It is an album in equal parts about loss as well as a manual to moving on, stronger than before. "While there are a couple of different threads to the record, ultimately there's a romance to it alongside a feeling of looking to the future through a new lens." Says frontman Leo; "While still being aware of the unknown, you can allow yourself to feel hopeful, stronger and grateful for what you've got."
